Description
A fully restored Victorian nursing chair, circa 1860, reupholstered in House of Hackney’s Limerence velvet in Sky.
Constructed in solid mahogany, the chair features a shaped deep-buttoned back, scroll arms, turned front legs and splayed rear legs. The original frame retains a light patina consistent with its age, carefully cleaned and polished in our Birmingham workshop, and set on new solid brass castors.
Traditionally restored and newly sprung for comfort, the chair has been rebuilt using natural upholstery materials including horsehair, hessian, wool wadding and unbleached calico. Finished with matching double piping, it balances antique craftsmanship with a fresh, expressive fabric choice.
Elegant, considered and full of character, this is a one-of-a-kind piece designed for a living room, bedroom, library or quiet reading corner.
This piece is one of a kind.
Why we love it
We love this chair for the way it combines Victorian elegance with a sense of renewal. The mahogany frame has the warmth and patina of a piece with history, while the Limerence velvet brings lightness, colour and a more contemporary spirit. It feels refined without being predictable - a restored antique for someone with a discerning eye and a home with character.
